Ministries at Gethsemani Missionary Baptist Church
Pastoral Ministry
Under the leadership and guidance of the Pastor, this ministry functions to serve the congregation in the building up of the believers in word, thought and deed. It is the awesome task of the Pastor with the assistance of the Associate Ministers to communicate “the love of God” to every member of the congregation.
The Pastor provides leadership and vision to the church and prepares the congregation for ministry. The thrust of the church is evangelism and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ to the lost and confirms through the preaching and teaching of the gospel the examples that Christ set as a blueprint for His church. The application of the Scriptures in every day life of each member is essential. Putting God first and living out the principles of the Holy Scriptures is a must in the life of the Believer.
The ministerial support staff, the associate ministers, have assign tasks to assist the Pastor in the equipping of the Saints to do ministry. The Pastor and the Ministerial Staff motivates, equips, and nurtures the congregation by example, teaching and preaching the Word of God. The ministerial team gives thrust in the evangelistic in-reach and outreach of the church. Associate Ministers assists in Communion, Baptism and other tasks as requested by our Pastor.

Large and small group educational settings are available to engage the congregation as learners (ages - pre-school through adulthood). As Christians, we must be equipped to “serve” by studying the Word of God. Scripture tells us that “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God me be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” II Timothy 3: 16-17 As we study the scriptures we them must learn to apply the Word of God to our daily life experiences.

Acts 1:8 model …is the focus of this ministry. “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the uttermost parts of the earth.” i.e., Jerusalem (community), Judea (Nevada), Samaria (United States), uttermost parts of the world (globally)
Fellowship of Love Food Pantry
The mission of the Fellowship of Love Food Pantry is to assist people by providing supplemental food to the needy in the community where our church is located. Typically, people have been impacted by financial problems as a result of: unemployment (lay-offs & downsizing) divorce, disability, health, domestic violence, homelessness, disaster, aging and rising cost of living. We gather and store and distribute goods to those who find themselves in time of special need and crisis. Our mission is based on a compassionate hand out and hand up as we respect the dignity of each person we serve. We seek to bring a measure of love and peace through sharing the blessings of food and other resources with those why are in need. We see in our neighbors the face of God and act with resolve to insure that basic needs of life are met. Our mission is usually “short term” help; long term relief is usually outside the scope of our involvement. In all cases, modeling the loving and compassionate character of Jesus is to be as much a part of our mission as the tangible food that we give. This ministry is carried out by a volunteer work force.
